Mike Carr
is the prior owner of London Bridge Insurance. He started working at London Bridge Insurance in 1980 typing policies and taking care of the filing. His father, Herb Carr started the business on the corner of Smoketree and McCulloch Blvd in 1972, the year the Carr family moved to town. Mike was licensed as an Agent in 1980 and began taking over most of the management responsibilities for London Bridge Insurance in 1985. Mike's dad, Herb, passed away in 1989, just one month before they moved into a new building, their most recent location on McCulloch Blvd.
In 2006 Mike and London Bridge Insurance merged with AJS Insurance Services, Inc. and moved to the AJS location just a block and a half up the street from his old office. He has taken on the responsibility of Vice President of the Small Business Unit at the agency. After Lapre Scali & Company acquired AJS he was made Northwest Arizona Sales Manager. He is licensed to conduct business in Arizona, California and Navada.
Professionally, Mike has held positions as President and has served on the Board of Directors for the Independent Agents AssociAtion of Northwest Arizona. He also was a Board member of the Harford Insurance Company's Jonathan Trumbull Association from 1994 to 1999.
Mike has held the Designation of Certified Insurance Counselor sine 1995. This designation requires successful completion of five (5) twenty (20) hour insurance industry courses covering Commercial Liability, Commercial Property, Life & Health, Personal Lines Insurance, and Agency Management. Continuing educatin consisting of successful completion of twenty (20) hours additional education per year is required to maintain CIC designation.
Some of the things that Mike has been involved in over the past years in Lake Havasu are Kiwanis President in 1995 and 2004, Chaired the Toys for Tots campaign in 1987 and 1988, helped start the Youth Basketball Program in 1985, United Way Campaign Chairman in 1995 and 1996, Campaign Speaker for three years straight, and acted as a Board Member for several years. District Chairman for the Boy Scouts in 1995.
Other volunteer interests for Mike have been the Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce, Starline School PTA, Parks and Recreation, Men's Basketball Association and Western Arizona Humane Society and many other organizations.
